Counseling

According to the American School Counselor Association, school counselors are certified/licensed educators who improve student success for ALL students by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program. School counselors work to maximize student success, promoting access and equity for all students. As vital members of the school leadership team, school counselors create a school culture of success for all. 

 

At Bowie, our school counselor will provide individual student academic planning and goal-setting, school counseling classroom lessons based on the MISD Core Character Traits, organize small groups focused on specific skills, conduct short-term counseling for students, make referrals for long-term support, collaborate with families/teachers/administrators/community organizations for student success, and advocate for students in a variety of ways to contribute to their personal and academic success.
